D&D Fan Film Festival

Finally being an AV geek and a roleplayer pays off! Daring fans to make a better film than Dungeons & Dragons: The Movie (I or II) the first annual Dungeons & Dragons Fan Film Festival, hosted by Wizards of the Coast and gamevideos.com, is going on now. Although the submissions part of the festival is over, anyone can head on over to the D&D section of gamevideos.com and check out the surprising number of submissions (like 70+, some of which are actually pretty funny). The main D&D Fan Film Festival website lives here along with a few quirky examples pieces (the artsy, French “Angst du Chakra” piece made me laugh, even though the subtitles don’t synch up quite right). Voting continues until October 15th, and at the end the top voted directors get a trip to L.A., with the winner getting a gold mine of computing, video, and recording equipment. Way to buck the basement-dwelling, camera-shy stereotype D&D players!
