Dragonlance: The Movie

Since it's already been a Dragonlance heavy weekend, what better time than now to note the upcoming Dragonlance feature film. For all those who didn't think it would ever happen, this isn't a rumor, it's a real live animated movie based off Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman's novel Dragons of Autumn Twilight, already in production for release later this year. A long way from just some fan film, the cast includes Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer fame) as Tika, Lucy Lawless (Xena) as Goldmoon, and Keifer Sutherland (24) as Raistlin. While there's not too much to see yet, you can check out the Official Dragonlance Movie Site for a few early sketches and CG models, discussions about the cast and crew, and the most recent news on production.
Really, there's not a single D&D story I could be more excited about getting the movie treatment (well, maybe I, Strahd) and, even now, one's thing for sure: this film's going to beat the ass of the first Dungeons & Dragons: The Movie.

Holy crap, awesome! I hope they don't ruin it.
Yes, but will it beat the ass of the D&D Choose-Your-Own-Adventure DVD? Answer: Yes.
I saw a panel on this last summer at comic-con San Diego.
Weis and Hickman are heavily involved and are really happy with it apparently.
