Green Ronin's Song of Ice and Fire

IceNFire.jpg

Not to be outdone in this past week's press release rumble, Green Ronin has its own big news:

Green Ronin Publishing has reached an agreement with New York Times bestselling author George R.R. Martin to license his fantasy epic A Song of Ice and Fire. Green Ronin will publish a roleplaying game in 2008 that will allow fans of the series to have their own exciting adventures in Westeros. Subsequent books will continue to explore the world and characters of A Song of Ice and Fire.

While its not the first time A Song of Ice and Fire has tried to make the jump to a tabletop roleplaying game—formerly being held by the recently deceased Guardians of Order—hopefully this publisher will be a bit luckier with the property. Good on the series’ author, George R.R. Martin, for giving RPGs another shot too, 'cause you can bet Green Ronin's going to make the new game look sa-Weet. For more on the game, and a few words from Martin himself, stop on by Green Ronin's newly designed (and slightly uglier, but easier to read) website.

If you need even more ASoIaF (yay for ridiculous abbreviations!) stay tuned to HBO—of all places—for their developing A Song of Ice and Fire television series, doubtlessly with 500% more of the swearing (Deadwood), violence (The Sopranos), and horrifying nudity (Carnivale)!

I'm not really into roleplaying but it's great to hear good news about A Song of Ice and Fire. I can't wait for the HBO series.
