Requiem For Rome Releases Today!

21rome.jpg

White Wolf's new supplement for Vampire: the Requiem, called Requiem For Rome, is in stores today!

It, of course, is an Ancient Roman setting in which to play Vampire, from the very beginning of the Roman Empire (founded in 753 B.C.E.) to its end (the fall of the last Western Roman emperor, Romulus Augustulus—or does it last until the fall of Byzantium? Who knows! All I know is that after 4 years of Latin I can never forget these useless facts).

White Wolf describes it thusly:

A grotesque and beautiful new vision of Ancient Rome through the eyes of vampires - full of bloody passion, mystical intrigue, and glorious battle.

I don't agree that it's in any way a "new" vision, and I also don't agree with their use of a hyphen as an em dash, but other than that it sounds pretty cool. Later on they advertise that the game finally reveals "the secrets of the ancient undead" and "the truth about the Camarilla," and also introduces a new foe—the Strix, "wicked and terrifying monsters that prey on the undead"!

All I know is that my friend has already picked it up and is going to make our group play it by force in lieu of our usual D&D session, so I might as well enjoy it. If the Strix are as cool as they sound, I'm pretty sure I will.
