Dungeon? Where Are You?

I've resisted posting about just how much Dungeons & Dragons Insider really sucks... mostly because I have great respect for its editor, Chris Thomasson, and I wanted to give it a chance. See, the thing is, I wanted DDI to be cool... not just sorta cool, but really honestly super radically cool. I wanted to believe that the folks at Wizards of the Coast had a plan that didn't involve raping my wallet for little more than they used to offer on their website for free.
I have issue #1 of Dungeon, and started subscribing in its first year. I have every single issue of its run. I was even published in its pages several times. To me, Dungeon epitomized cool. While I was somewhat disappointed in the October issue, I could at least appreciate that they were trying, releasing chapters at a time of a long adventure (and a revisit of a classic to boot!) and concluding a trilogy started in the print edition with industry favorite and werecabbage Nick Logue. I wanted to give them props at least for releasing pdfs with layout and formating, even if it was formatting from the magazine some years past, at least it was actual layout (which is more than its sister magazine got).
Now we're in December. The compilations that were supposed to be available at the beginning of November still haven't appeared. Chris hasn't posted an editorial (in either magazine). No new adventure has been released... not a chapter or piece of one, NO NEW ADVENTURE in November. Let me repeat that last bit: In the magazine dedicated to printing adventures, NO NEW ADVENTURE in November.
DDI... you suck. Now, instead of winning me over, you have to win me back.

Dragon is even worse, there's been two articles since launch which were lackluster imitations of paizo fare, and then all it is now is what was once simply D&D webpage content, except less. I'm really unimpressed.
But wait, wasn't online publishing supposed to be better, faster, and less restrictive than print? Not just... insubstantial?
It's getting harder and harder to be the ferocious optimist about these things that I try to always be. Sigh.
Oy. I was talking with a friend about this. Getting 4e news/info, and D&D info in general has been excruciating. It used to be that I had to contend with the horrible organized Wizards Website. Now I have to comb through that website, D&D Insider, and Gleemax, all of which are horribly organized (at least to someone who's just casually tried to take a look at them), and two of which I have to register to look at. Wizards had better get their act together and improve this situation.
I do have to say I'm so glad for Velvet Dice Bag, it's so far the best table-top gaming blog/news resource I've found. Thanks for going through all the crap out there and teasing out the interesting/relevant info for me!
The registration and navigation are actually really good points. I'm getting pretty sick of the webpage asking me for my password. I'm actually really frustrated with the webpage as a whole, and am considering just not going to the page anymore.
I can't wait until they try and charge for this stuff, considering many people think "free" isn't enough to get them to the page.
