Free Game Friday: The Pokéthulhu Adventure Game

Welcome to another edition of Free Game Friday! This week we'll be combining two of my favourite things! Nuts and gum, together at last? No—Pokéthulhu!

Cumberland Games' Pokéthulhu is exactly what you should expect it to be—an RPG where you capture cute lil' elder evils and make them fight for your amusement. It's absolutely free, yet has high production values, with glorious and hilarious illustrations and an opening comic by none other than John Kovalic (of Dork Tower and Munchkin fame). The rules are entirely d12 based—ignored no longer!—and your Cultist's six stats are Grade Level, Phys Ed, Pokéthulhu Lore, Sanity, Shoplifting and Talking Trash (keep in mind your character is from 5 to 16 years old).

But you could read more about the rules yourself, Pokéthulhu being a game with about twenty pages of content. The best aspect of it, predicably, is the monsters—my favourites are Llidorino, Mr. Mi-Go, Pentacruel, Bulba-Zhar and, of course, Pikathulhu.
