Game Of The Week: Killer Bunnies

kbheader1.gif

Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic Carrot qualifies as perhaps the most unusual game I've ever played. Produced by Playroom Entertainment, the game is card driven and based on the idea that you must gather an army of bunnies and find the magic carrot. The game draws heavily on pop culture, from the weapons that are used to kill other players bunnies (it is impossible for them to win without at least one bunny in play and Sharks with Friggin' Laser Beams can be right useful in killing dem bunnies!), to the specialty bunnies themselves, to the names of the carrots (Flo is most certainly based on a 70s sitcom). Definitely good for a night's entertainment, Killer Bunnies is my personal favorite substitute when more than one of my D&D players flakes out and I need to pull out an alternative table top experience.

One of the best parts of the game is that despite being playable out of the box, there is a seemingly endless series of additions to the game in the form of color coded decks such as the current Ominous Onyx booster deck, as well as special giveaway cards (from Lord of the Bunnies to Hare E. Potter) known as Omega cards. These additions help keep the game fresh and current. I strongly recommend the game to anyone, but will say that individual games can sometimes last longer than you might expect - I've had occasional games run over two hours.

And girls who like girls who like breastplates!
