Way-Out Wednesday: Fae Noir

FaeNoire_cover210x280.jpg

Make the 20's roar louder—that's the tagline for this Green Fairy Games indie RPG, Fae Noir.

Fae Noir is a game that takes place during that much-romanticized decade right after the first World War—business was booming, arts and culture were skyrocketing, and mythological beings were showing up in ever greater numbers after their self-imposed exile during the height of the recent warfare.

That's right—humans not only have to deal with the aftermath of the Great War, but they have to deal with you: failed invaders from the lands of faery stuck in a modern world, such as "a pistol-packing elf" or a "magic-slinging private eye" or a "fast-driving bootlegger" or a "tango-dancing troll." Bring noir and fairy tales together in "an era of jazz and exploration, of art deco and danger."

Two great tastes that taste great together, or about as congruent as putting a satyr in a flapper dress? Decide for yourself at the game's website, where for free you can download a sample trial-run of the game along with a character sheet. (Or just ogle at the cover for a while. Gorrrrgeous.) Either way, it's your ultra-stylish indie game of the week!

..Are there *any* fantasy artists who can draw breasts?

Or is that a really, really cute drag-queen fairy?

My eyes not usually being drawn to that kind of thing, I should have noticed it anyway. Yeesh, the girls are NOT having a good time in that dress.

Then again, thinking of her as a drag queen makes me love the cover even more.

These would be great resources used in conjunction with Changeling: The Dreaming / Lost.

It could be a character's recurring dreams, a Fae's realm in Arcadia (from The Lost), or just an alternate setting. Fun times!

Reminds me a little of "Cast a Deadly Spell," a cute little HBO movie of many years ago, set in a post WWII Hollywood where magical creatures (including unicorns, gremlins and werewolves) were real and EVERYONE could do magic.

And girls who like girls who like breastplates!
