Green Ronin Plans For True20 Include Dropping License Fee

Green Ronin just released a message from company president Chris Pramas. This first new years announcement covers True20, an OGL system that has spawned several campaign settings. Personally I'm fond of True20, having discovered it through Blue Rose: The Roleplaying Game of Romantic Fantasy. Romantic fantasy is a genre that I'm very familiar with, having grown up as a fan of Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar books. I particularly like the job that they did with that system, and I know several other (incredibly diverse) settings have also been put out for the system. Even Paizo has taken advantage of this trend, and True20 conversions of some of its Pathfinder modules are available (I believe they have also arranged to have Castle and Crusades conversions done, but I can't find the reference at the moment, so don't quote me!).
The good news:True 20 will be continuing despite the issuance of the new edition of D&D. Whether this means Green Ronin will not be an early converter to the new OGL is a good question... but since the new OGL is said to strictly limit properties like True20 and Mutants and Masterminds, this announcement isn't entirely a surprise. Also in good news, a new revision (NOT a new edition) of the True20 rules will be released this year. The full text of the announcement is available here. As a fan of creamy icing, I've saved perhaps the best bit of the news for last... Green Ronin is planning to change the terms of True20 licensing to eliminate fees. Isn't it great to see all good news in an announcement?
