D&D 4E Goes to Press

D&DCake.jpg

And pencils down! Hope all the fighters have their feats and the wizards have their familiars 'cause D&D fourth edition is off and away! This week, the latest and most debated edition of the world's most popular roleplaying game went to press.

According to Kim Mohan: "All three of the 4th Edition core rulebooks are now at the printer, and we're comfortably on track for the big release in June.

And what did the Wizards of the Coast R&D guys do to celebrate? Why, what any self-respecting gamer does after a great D&D victory! Pigs out on junk food! Mmmmm, D&D Cake... made with real dragons. Good job guys... or at least... we hope it is.

Hah!

THAC0 alone should ensure that the pre-3rd editions are more "debated" for years to come ^_^

I look forward to reading reviews of the new system. From what I've heard, I'm not so certain that it's my kind of system (in terms of focus on combat over social roleplay).

I am looking forward to catastrophes that are rumored for the campaign settings though.

This is indeed good news! I personally am very much looking forward to 4e. Most of the complaints I've heard are centered around some of the core "content" changes and campaign settings which are pretty irrelevant to me as I've always played in games with their own custom worlds.

As far as the mechanics focusing on combat and such... As far as I'm concerned that's what the rules should focus on, and leave the role playing and story telling up to the group! (of course some mechanics are helpful, but honestly I think the actual rules should focus on things that are more mechanical in nature, and leave a lot of discretion to the players when it comes to role-playing. But that's just my opinion.

And girls who like girls who like breastplates!
