Nobilis Returns At Last; Society Of Flowers Up For Download; Mad Pawn Has A Conniption

89nobilis.jpg

Yesterday, on the RPG.net forums, one of my idols Rebecca Borgstrom (author of Nobilis, much of Exalted: Sidereal, and the mind-blowing Hitherby Dragons fiction blog) posted a painfully intriguing little message:

Tomorrow is my birthday, and I get to give you something nice. ^_^

Stay tuned!

And--yes!--it turned out to be what we all hoped it would be. What we were all waiting for for five years now as Nobilis (Dare I say it? Okay, I will--favourite RPG ever. Like, everytime I see it in a store I want another copy of it.) was shunted from publisher to publisher--Nobilis is back, and so is Society of Flowers, its long, long LONG awaited first supplement. Better yet? You can download it in installments.

More after the sweet, sweet jump!

First off: Nobilis itself is going back in print with an all-new edition (though I can't think of how they're going to make it more brain-shatteringly gorgeous than the last one). No more paying $275 for used copies of it! Thank the Imperators for Eos Press:

Between Men and Gods, Reality and Myth After being out of print for years, the nonesuch roleplaying game is back. The roleplaying game of playing the entities that are the founding concepts that compose reality itself, it is has been described as being between Neil Gaiman's Sandman Comic Series and Roger Zelazny's Amber Book Series - powerful and surreal and fantastic, all at once. While the gods are away at war, they leave their Powers - the players - to oversee and defend the world on their behalf. Immensely powerful, you and your friends play the games of gods and men while fulfilling your duties - all backed by a ruleset designed to reflect degrees of omnipotence.

Between Perfection and the End of Everything: There Stand the Nobilis
Originally released by Pharos Press in 1999, Nobilis received critical acclaim and rave reviews from the games press. In 2002, Hogshead Publishing released the second edition - completely revised and literally twice as big. Now, for 2008, Nobilis is receiving an all-new look, new art and additional content - it will be a big 8.5 x 11 thick roleplaying game book, not only containing the original 2002 book content but will also including key material from the first supplement - the Game of Powers! So the rulebook will contain complete rules and explanations, full background, exhaustive examples of play, sample adventures and campaign settings, while also including an alternate ruleset, suitable for live-action or other play, and much more!

What's more, Society of Flowers, the first Nobilis supplement, will also be published--but first, it's going to be available for download in installments as Borgstrom's birthday present to all of us. You can download the first, Unlikely Flowerings, for free from the Eos website, but if you're as big a Borgstrom/Nobilis fan as I am and really want to show as much support for it as possible, you can pay for it too. Please do.

*Has a conniption.*
